Abstract: According to new research Vitamin C repair the function of retinal cell which in turn have implication for central nervous system. Objective: Brain is the last place to be depleted by vitamin C in case of vitamin C deprivation. vitamin C deficiency causes Scurvy which is a common symptom of. vitamin C deficiency can cause malfunctioning of nerve e cells and retina which can lead to certain other diseases like epilepsy and glaucoma. design: The Macula of the eye, which is Pigmented spot of 5mm in diameter near the Retina is effected by the depletion or increase in the concentration of Vitamin C & E along with the Lutein & Zeaxanthin. We all know that retina is the part of Nervous System (In CNS) which point out our attention that Vitamin C can also have the role in different functions of the Brain.Researchers says that Retina have the Receptors similar to GABA which are responsible of communication b/w Different brain cells and when the Vitamin C is depleted at these receptor sites, they stop normal functioning. source: This Research is conducted by The scientists of Health & Science University of Oregon and this has been published in The Journal of Neuroscience. Result: This research will lead to generation of new hypothesis & potential treatment strategies as retinal GABA receptors modulate by Ascorbic acid responsible for rapid communication between brain cell by acting on excitatory neurons in brain as a inhibitory "brake". conclusion: Vitamin C rich diet could be neuro-protective for retina especially for glaucoma patients.Vitamin C is help full for eyes and brain Health Latest Medical Researches: If you found this research interesting, you may want to read through other interesting researches such as; Comments08/04/2011 03:35
Vitamin C has so many health benefits, I'm not at all surprised to see another one on the list. I try to eat an orange every day and I also take a supplement daily. Do you think that is enough?

Interesting, I wouldn't have thought that Vitamin C could do so much! I'm pretty sure my multivitamin has some C in there, but it looks like I'm going to have to step it up a notch if I want my eyes and brain to stay healthy! ;)
