Sweating is a natural part of life.  For some, however, it can become a real problem.  Sweating excessively often leads to embarrassment.  From harsh odors to clothes stains that alert others of the problem, dealing with sweat on a day to day basis can be downright tough.  If you suffer from excessive sweating, you are likely in search of ways to help reduce the problem.

The following are 8 ways that you can naturally reduce sweating.

            • Change your diet.  The food that you intake can largely contribute to your problem of sweating.  There is a list of food that “sweaters” must try to avoid at all cost. Not only do they increase the probability of sweating, they also contribute to the odor that is often associated with sweating.  These foods include onions and garlic.  Overly spicy food and food that is high in sugar and fat can also contribute to excessive sweating.  Eat a healthy diet filled with fruits and vegetables to help reduce the amount that you sweat.
            • Add a touch of baby powder.  Baby powder serves as a great way to reduce the moisture in areas that are prone to sweating.  On top of the deodorant that you choose to use on a daily basis, consider adding in a touch of baby powder in areas such as the armpit or groin area that is prone to excessive sweating.
            • Clinical Strength Antiperspirant.  What kind of protection are you buying to ward off sweat?  Be sure that you are using an antiperspirant instead of just a deodorant.  An antiperspirant works by decreasing the amount of sweat that your glands produce.  Clinical strength antiperspirant is available over the counter at your local drug store.  Talk with your doctor is your can’t find one strong enough to help control your sweating. Perhaps he can recommend a product that will be helpful for you.
            • Eat your herbs.  Just as there are foods that contribute to sweating, there are also foods that you can eat that can help deter sweating.  Herbs such as Osha, Astragalus, Rehmannia, and Tea Tree Oil have all proven to be effective against sweating.  Many of these herbs can be found via the internet and are available in capsule form.  As always, consult your doctor for advice before you choose any herb to add to you diet as it may interfere with other medications you are currently taking.
            • Get rid of stress.  Stress is one of the number one culprits for sweat.  The more stressed you are the more you will perspire. Realize that to reduce sweating, you need to make a lifestyle change.  Focus on eliminating stressful situations in your life and find alterative methods for getting rid of the stress such as working out or getting involved in stress counseling.
            • Manage your internal body temperature by working out.  Sweating is often produced by the lack of management in the internal body temperature.  Exercising and working out on a daily basis can help you regulate your internal body temperature.  Periods of excitement or fear may also raise your internal body temperature.  Make an effort to contain your excitement to help naturally reduce sweating.
            • Be cautious of what you wear.   The clothes that you wear can greatly affect how much you sweat during the day.  Cotton, wool, and silk are all known culprits that promote sweating.  Stay away from clothing that is heavy and hot.  Also avoid clothing that may be too small or clingy as they too will cause you to sweat.
            • Maintain a good body weight. Naturally, the more you weigh, the more you will sweat. If you are extremely overweight, this could be what is causing you to sweat in the first place. Excessive fat deposit in the body causes it to work harder to regulate the internal body temperature.  To naturally reduce sweating, consider going on a diet and getting your weight down to the recommended body weight for your height.

If sweating is a problem for you, use the tips above to do what you can to naturally reduce the problem.  You no longer have to suffer from the embarrassment of harsh odor and unsightly pit stains.  Do what you can to reduce sweating.
